Speedy High-Low Leg Poker
Speedy High-Low Poker is played with a standard pack of fifty-two playing cards.
There must be at least two players, with the best game having six players. As many as ten players may play Speedy High Low Poker, but this is not recommended, especially in high stakes games. All the general rules of Poker are followed as far as the ante and the deal.
Speedy High-Low Poker is a fast variation of Leg Poker with a few additional rules. Leg Poker is a variation of Draw Poker. In Leg Poker the pot stays on the table until one player has won two legs (won twice). The legs do not have to be won in consecutive plays.
The variation of Speedy High-Low Poker adds the rule, if no one has a pair of aces or better on the first round, the hand is played as Lowball. Lowball is like Draw Poker in reverse. In Lowball there are no minimum requirements for opening the pot, and in the showdown the lowest hand wins. If no one opens, the same dealer must keep dealing until a leg is won. A leg is the same as a hand. The pot stays on the table until one player has won two legs. That player then wins the pot to keep.
The same player must deal until a player wins a leg. All players must ante when each new hand is dealt. When playing Speedy High-Low Poker a score pad is usually used to avoid confusion and prevent arguments.
