Know Your Limits
When it comes to playing and really enjoying poker, you must know your limits. In other words, you must pre-establish the size of your betting wallet long before you participate in any poker game. Conversely, there is more to poker survival than knowing your limits-you must also possess the will power to stick to the limits you set! In doing so, you can protect yourself from financial difficulties down the road.
There is nothing worse than an overzealous bidder at the poker table. Every player knows when an overzealous bidder is at work-the game is no longer fun because the atmosphere can become pretty stressful. The deeper in the financial hole that the overzealous bidder falls into, the more stressed the atmosphere frequently becomes. Ironically, the only person at the table who doesn't recognizes the overzealous bidder is the bidder who is being financially buried by their own actions.
A poker play must always remember that there is an element of luck involved in every game. When on a losing streak there is never a guarantee that the next hand will be the winner and chances are it won't be. A poker player can never count on the next hand being the big break they are hoping for and by failing to stick to a limit they can lose everything they have and then some. Thus, a poker player must be willing to set a limit to their betting and stick to it-knowing ones limits is a big part of walking away a winner when playing poker.
